What in the World is God Doing?

Do you ever wonder what God is up to these days? god-of-hope

I think about that a lot. After my family and I moved to the border town of Del Rio, TX, I wondered what was He doing? I was entering into my first pastorate and I knew  I would have to rely on God more than I ever had before in my life. Who was I to be a Senior Pastor at a First Baptist Church? Who was I to bring the message of hope each week from the Word of God? Who was I to be the one to answer the questions of many?

Then God reminded me of who I was. He said you are my chosen one, you are holy, and you are a royal priest; 1 Peter2:9. God also calls me His masterpiece created to do His work; Ephesians 2:10. He says I am an heir to the throne; Galatians 4:6-7. Over and over God reminded me of who I am because of who He is.

6 months have passed by since God called me to First Baptist Church of Del Rio, TX. He is up to something. I have been witness to His great power and His great plan. 20 souls have been Baptized in the first 6 months of ministry. Attendance and giving have risen as well. We just called a full-time youth & worship minister.

I was told not to rock the boat for the first 6 months of the new ministry until I get my feet wet and understand what the church and community need. Well, if I would have listened to man, then God would not have been given the glory. His plans are far better than our plans. I don’t have to wait to know that the world is hurting and it needs to know what in the world God is doing.

  1. Thank you to God and First Baptist Church of Del Rio for choosing our brother (in-law) to be Senior Associate Pastor. I always knew our Lord Jesus Christ would call Larry when He needed him to shepard His flock. Additionally, Lucy, his wife, is just as strong in her faith as Larry.

When my wife and I visit from El Paso, I am moved to tears because the Word of our Lord Jesus Christ resonates through Larry.

Lord, thank You again for choosing Larry for First Baptist Church of Del Rio.

  2. Larry,

Don’t know if you are rocking the boat or not but you sure are rocking. What God is doing for our church through you is a blessing. Please keep rocking and we will keep baptizing.

Thank You Jesus for sending this pastor to us.
