Today is Ash Wednesday, which marks the 40 day period (not including Sundays) prior to the Easter Celebration of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus. During this period a time to abstain from certain pleasures, repent, fast, and practice spiritual disciplines. As Baptists we don’t actually rub ashes on our foreheads, but we should use this time to do whatever it takes to draw nearer to Jesus so that our Easter really is a true celebration of a real resurrection.
I will be preaching a 3 week series leading up to Easter entitled “Heaven is For Real.” The book was released a four years ago and was on the best sellers list. I read it to my children after dinner for a time of devotion and they loved it. We went through it slowly taking about a month to finish it.
